After a long time, I am back with a new piece of information about the life in Stockholm. Today I would like to take you through the hairdressing salons. I think that everyone who is moving to a new city have the same question in the head: Where could I go to cut or dye my hair without paying a lot and being satisfied after the visit to hairdresser? I had exactly the same problem after moving here.

In Stockholm, you can find plenty of different hairdressing salons. You can choose from cheaper salons on the area you live or choose fancy and expensive ones in the city center or in shopping malls. The best way to find a good, and not too expensive, hairdresser is to ask your friends or colleagues who have been living here for long time for a recommendation. Don’t worry if you don’t have too many contacts here in Sweden. I am here to help you, and I would like to give you some tips where you could go to get your desired hair style.

If you wear a short hairstyle, your life is easier, even more if you are using only a machine to cut you hair like my boyfriend. You can find some places with “drop in” such as one in Täby Centrum called TÄBY KLIPPSTUGA & BARBERSHOP where cutting your hair will cost max 200 kr (Swedish crowns). Are you a student in Sweden and have a Swedish student identification like for example Mecenat or Studentkortet? Don’t forget to ask about student discounts, because lot of places have them in their services. Until now, that is the cheapest way to cut my boyfriend’s hair we have found in Stockholm, but if you would like to have a professional haircut from an experienced hairdresser maybe would be better to choose a slightly more expensive place around your living area, preferably outside of shopping malls since there are usually more expensive.

If you wear a more elaborated hairstyle or just have long hair, I would suggest not thinking too much about the price in your hair dresser searching process. More important is the quality of service and the type of cosmetics they use there. In Sweden, a good hairdresser should have a hairdresser certificate, which proves that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to work as hairdressers. The problem is that they don’t have to have it to work, so it is always good to ask if they have it in advance before making your choice and having a haircut there.

I could a recommend you two hairdressers in Stockholm. One of them you can find close to Mall of Scandinavia, on Ballongatan 13, Solna. You can find her profile on Facebook as a Profi Tim. The price of a woman’s haircut with her is around 500 kr, and a dying job around 800 kr. I strongly recommend asking about the full-service cost before you actually get the job done to avoid any unwanted expenses. In this place, you have access to a wide range of services such as nails, depilation, etc. It is important to mention that Profi Tim works only with women, so this is a good place to go when your male partner prefers to stay in home.

Another good place to go is a Salong Eva in Vällingby. This is a lovely place where the girls can make miracles with your hair, but good news for you guys too, this place offers their services to both men and women. The prices depend a lot on what specific services you would like to have, so the best way to know exactly the price is to write to them and ask before going there.
